These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of petrisgame.com (the "Site") and the PETRIS browser game (the "Game"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Game is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use. You may play the Game in your web browser as often as you like, on any device you own, without paying anything and without creating an account.
This license does not transfer any ownership of the Game, the Site, or any of its content to you. It is a permission to use, not a transfer of rights.
The Game's source code, artwork, animations, level design, copy, layout, and branding are the property of the operator of petrisgame.com unless otherwise noted. The fonts used on the Site (Press Start 2P and Pixelify Sans) are licensed from their respective creators under open font licenses.
You may not copy, modify, redistribute, or republish the Game or any substantial part of the Site without express written permission. Embedding the Game on another website, hosting a mirrored copy at another domain, or repackaging it as a downloadable app all require permission. Reach out if you have a use case in mind.
Brief excerpts, screenshots, and gameplay videos for the purposes of news, criticism, education, or commentary are fine under standard fair-use principles. A link back to petrisgame.com is appreciated but not required.
When using the Site, you agree not to:
Your high score is stored in your browser's local storage, on your device. It is not transmitted to any server. You are responsible for backing it up if you care about preserving it; clearing your browser data or switching devices will reset it.
We make no guarantee that your high score will persist. Browser storage can be cleared by you, by your browser, by browser extensions, by operating system maintenance routines, or by changes to the Site that invalidate older save formats.

The Site and the Game are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components. Your high score may not persist. The Site may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
The strategy advice on the Site is a player's perspective, not a guarantee. Following the advice will not guarantee a high score.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of petrisgame.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, including but not limited to lost data, lost time, lost productivity, or lost high scores.
If, despite the above, any liability is found, it shall be limited to the amount you paid to use the Site, which is zero.
The Site is family-friendly and contains no objectionable material in the Game itself. The Site is not, however, specifically directed at children under thirteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The Site and the Game may be updated, changed, or discontinued at any time, with or without notice. New animals, new mechanics, new visual themes, or fixes to existing behavior may be introduced. Older saved high scores may not be portable across major updates.
These Terms may be updated periodically. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced on this page; continued use of the Site after a change indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
To the extent any dispute arises out of these Terms or your use of the Site, you agree that the dispute will be resolved informally where possible, and that any formal proceedings will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of the Site resides, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
